Thurston Co, WA - Cyclist Fatally Hit at WA-8 & Summit Lake Rd

Thurston Co, WA (June 6, 2021) - On Wednesday, June 2, a bicyclist was killed in a vehicle collision in Thurston County.

According to the Washington State Police, the deadly accident occurred at around 11:24 a.m. that morning. The rider was traveling on WA-8 when he was hit by a motor vehicle at Summit Lake Road, east of Grays Harbor. The 78-year-old Olympia man was cycling eastbound on the highway when he entered the left lane in order to make a turn.

A 50-year-old Bellingham man driving a 2012 Toyota Camry struck the rider. Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid to the injured victim. Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further updates on the fatal crash have been provided at this time.
