Gorst, WA (March 14, 2021) - Three people were hospitalized following a head-on collision in the Gorst area on Saturday, March 13.

Local sources revealed that the accident occurred on WA-3 at around 11:35 a.m. that morning. According to reports from the Washington State Patrol, a 2001 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 59-year-old Olympia man traveling south on the highway swerved into oncoming traffic in order to avoid a chair on the road. The chair had reportedly fallen from an unknown grey vehicle.

To avoid hitting the debris, the Jeep entered northbound traffic and collided with a 2002 Toyota Tundra with two Belfair occupants. The Olympia man and a 63-year-old man in the Toyota were transported to Tacoma General Hospital. A 60-year-old woman in the Toyota was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

No further information has been provided. An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Head-On Crashes in Washington

In a stoplightEntering oncoming traffic is incredibly dangerous. Unfortunately, there are many roadways across Washington that have no divider, meaning that drivers are capable to collide head-on with other vehicles. Head-on impacts are involved in nearly 10% of fatal car crashes each year, and statistics show that these types of collisions have a nearly 58% fatality rate.

If you have been injured in a Washington car crash, you have the right to pursue a negligence claim for your injuries. Anyone who gets behind the wheel has to exercise reasonable care to obey the traffic laws of the State of Washington. Failure to do so may constitute negligence and give rise to a claim for lost damages for the injured party. Pursuing a personal injury claim in Washington is a long and confusing process for those with little experience in the law, but you do not have to do it alone.
