Pierce Co, WA - Girl Injured in Boating Hit-&-Run on Lake Tapps

Pierce Co, WA (July 18, 2021) - A young girl suffered serious injuries while tubing on a lake in Pierce County on Monday, July 12.

The incident reportedly occurred on Lake Tapps late that afternoon. A 9-year-old girl was out on a tube with her family, connected by a tether to another boat. It was at this time that another boat came between the vessel and the inflatable, cutting the tether.

The right side of the boat reportedly hit the girl on the innertube. The operator of the other boat stopped momentarily but fled the scene after the girl’s father yelled at them. The young girl reportedly was rushed to shore and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described as serious cuts to her face and broken cheek and eye socket bones.

An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more details will be released as it progresses.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and her family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
