Poulsbo, WA - Bruce Nelson Dies in Head-On Crash on WA-104

Poulsbo, WA (August 27, 2021) - A local man was killed and another person was injured after a two-vehicle accident in Poulsbo on Monday, August 23.

The incident occurred on WA-104 at around 10 a.m. that morning. According to the Washington State Patrol, 75-year-old Bruce A. Nelson of Poulsbo was traveling eastbound on the highway in a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. At the same time, a 2019 Mack dump truck was headed west.

Nelson’s Chevy reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic while approaching a curve. He then struck the front of the Mack truck. The 52-year-old Port Angeles man driving the truck sustained significant injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by helicopter. Nelson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A third vehicle, a Toyota Rav4, was hit by debris from the crash. None of the occupants were injured.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
