Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Seattle WA

undefinedFor a number of reasons, many Seattle residents choose to go by foot, but data show that this is not always a safe option. Despite the fact that pedestrians have the same right to the road as any other vehicle, a significant number of cars continue to kill pedestrians. Pedestrian fatalities continue to rise year after year, despite a decrease in passenger car fatalities throughout the country. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrians have a 1.5 times greater probability of dying in an accident than drivers. In the case of an accident, pedestrians have much less protection, rendering them more vulnerable to death. In 2017, a pedestrian was killed every 88 minutes on average in a collision.
