Tukwila, WA - Trucker Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5

Tukwila, WA (August 25, 2021) - A collision in Tukwila involving an 18-wheeler and a passenger car ended in a fatality on Monday, August 23.

Local reports revealed that a semi-truck traveling on Interstate 5 was involved in a crash with another car near Interstate 405 in Southcenter. According to law enforcement officials, the passenger car was merging from I-405 onto I-5 SB. When the driver of that car was changing lanes, it collided with the semi. 

The 18-wheeler hit a guardrail before crashing into an embankment near the highway. The operator of the rig sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by attending medical personnel. The area was closed for roughly 8 hours while emergency responders were present. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed at this time.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local authorities. As the inquiry develops, additional information will be provided to the public.
