Tacoma, WA - UPDATE: Huan Le Dies in Crash with Semi on WA-509

Tacoma, WA (August 17, 2021) - Authorities have identified the local man who was killed after the driver of a semi-truck ran a red light in Tacoma on Saturday, August 14.

Local reports revealed that 78-year-old Huan V. Le of Tacoma was driving a pickup truck at the time of the deadly accident. A truck driver was operating a big rig headed westbound on WA-509 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Alexander Avenue E. The man told authorities he did not notice he had a red light.

At around 8:08 a.m. that morning, the semi crashed into the 1994 Ford pickup truck, leaving the driver with fatal injuries. Le was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The trucker, 34-year-old Edward T. Scott of Bonney Lake, is currently awaiting charges in relation to the crash.

An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is being managed by local authorities.
