Tacoma, WA (May 8, 2021) - The man who died after a serious crash involving three semi-trucks and other vehicles occurred on Interstate 5 near the King-Pierce County line early Friday morning, May 7, has now been identified.
Troopers and medics initially responded to the scene, located in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Fife around 3:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a fatal crash. William Gladue was found dead on the freeway just north of 70th Avenue eastbound and was struck by two cars. Moments later, three semi-trucks collided in the backup from the first crash near 54th Avenue East, further snarling traffic and resulting in further injuries.
The investigation is still underway, though officers say one of the truck drivers was cited.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of William Gladue at this time. Our thoughts are with any injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
