Leavenworth, WA (July 11, 2021) - On Friday, July 9, a pileup collision in the Leavenworth area ended in a fatality and the injury of an Everett woman.

Local reports revealed that the crash occurred on US-2 nearly 13 minutes outside of the city limits. According to state troopers, an Everett man was driving distracted on the highway, causing him to crash into the guardrail. The man continued into oncoming traffic where he collided head-on with another vehicle.

This set off a chain reaction that caused two more vehicles to crash into the rear of the second driver. The operator of the vehicle that was struck head-on, 63-year-old Rosemarry Winslow of Everett, was sent to Cascade Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the fourth vehicle, 27-year-old Tasha Macomber of Yakima, was also injured.

The driver at fault for the accident suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is currently awaiting notification from the next of kin.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local authorities.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
