Tacoma, WA - James Wagner Dies in Car Crash on Yakima Ave

Tacoma, WA (August 13, 2021) - A local man and his wife lost their lives following a two-vehicle accident in the Tacoma area on Saturday, August 7.

The deadly crash occurred at the 7200 block of Yakima Avenue late that night at around 11:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that 63-year-old James Wagner of Tacoma and his wife were traveling south in a 2001 Plymouth Neon at the time of the crash. Authorities reported that a 21-year-old man driving a Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light near S. 72nd Street, crashing into the Plymouth.

Wagner’s vehicle was pushed into a fence, causing both occupants to suffer fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene by attending paramedics. The 21-year-old driver was arrested for vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

An ongoing crash investigation is underway.
