Joyce, WA - Elderly Caregiver Injured in Fire on WA-112

Joyce, WA (September 8, 2021) - A caregiver suffered serious injuries after a manufactured home in Joyce went up in flames on Sunday, September 5.

The double-wide was located west of the city at the 45000 block of WA-112. The scene was located near the Lyre River Campground just past Cannon Ball Road. Firefighters were dispatched to the location at around 12:41 p.m. that afternoon.

A 64-year-old man was injured while attempting to evacuate the homeowner, Alfred Keys. Kes was not injured in the incident. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of sustained injuries. The caregiver suffered burns to nearly 12% of his upper back and arms. No updates on his condition have been provided at this time.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
